For St. Val- entine's day the advertisements con- tained a heart-shaped picture and called attention to the fact that flowers make ideal valentines. Prices were quoted. Other advertisements asked the ques- tion: "Whose birthday is in Febru- ary!" This was followed by the slogan suggestion. One of the March advertisements con- tained this: "Mother—the dearest girl in the world—how long since you remembered her with a few flowers 7 "Boys, let every day be Mother's day. Take home a few bright spring flowers or a blooming plant. To her they will recall. In their fragrance, the tender year of youth, when you plucked your first flower and brought it to ; '' Our Valentine day business this year doubled last year's," writes the con- cern. "Business has been much better throughout the winter than last year. * * There has been a scarcity of bulbous stock here this year, also of Boston ferns.
