An old Medieval engraving of fools, buffoons, jesters (or court jesters). The fool was historically an entertainer during Medieval and Renaissance times who was a member of the household of a nobleman or a monarch employed to entertain them and their guests. He could also be an itinerant performer who entertained at fairs and markets. Jesters often wore brightly coloured clothes and eccentric hats. They used a wide variety of skills, included songs, music, storytelling, acrobatics, juggling, humour and magic tricks.
