The school was not opened until the middle of October, as the gov-ernment schools began work then. We had a splendid opening, matriculating about one hundred and twenty-five the first day. We were soonat regular work, Miss Varner taking charge of the financial part andI the literary. It has been such a joy to have with us Miss RebeccaTejeda, who has charge of all the Bible classes and assists in otherdepartments. Our school work came near being interrupted by the mob which socruelly stoned our house on the night of November 10. For severalweeks conditions were somewhat unsettled, but we did not lose a singleday. During that time our house was under military guard several. 334 womans missionary council. days, and we had the opportunity of giving tracts and Bibles to thesoldiers, which they read with a great deal of interest. Our school is steadily growing. More are taking note of its methodsand results than ever before, and we believe that God has great things imstore for us. The health record has been unusually good this year, for which weare truly thankful. This term we have several new girls who have come to us from Cath-olic homes, and we are praying that God will help us to lead themto Christ. All but two or three of our older girls are Christians. Ourprayer is that God will make them powers in his hand to bring thispeople to Christ.
