Diane McTurk. Visionary behind Wildlife Karanambu Trust, eco-lodge for visitors. Seventh generation Guyanese. Conservationist

Diane McTurk. Visionary behind Wildlife Karanambus Trust, and eco-lodge for visitors. A seventh generation Guyanese, she is a world expert on the Giant River Otters (Pteronura brasiliensis), but also Giant Anteaters, tapir and Capybara amongst others. A pioneer in conservation and in wildlife care in South America. Here she walks across the grounds of Karanambu Lodge in front of an orignal and now oldest building (circa 1920) on site; made of local materials, wattle and daub; clay and timber using rawhide strips for attachments - no nails! Tin roof a much later addition.
