Illustration of the Europa Clipper spacecraft orbiting Europa, a moon of Jupiter, which is seen in the background. The Europa Clipper is scheduled to launch in October 2024, and aims to conduct detailed observations of Jupiter's moon Europa. Europa is believed to have vast saltwater oceans beneath its ice crust, and scientists intend to investigate if it has conditions suitable for life. Europa Clipper should reach its destination around 2030 and will then fly past the moon around 45 times. It will be equipped with an ice-penetrating radar, high-gain antenna, magnetometer, and a remote-sensing palette.
