T HE THORLEYWINDOW M E ISI O RI A L. THORLEY MEMORIALWINDOW A BEAUTIFUL memorial window, inantique glass, designed and painted byFrances W^hite, of the Walter Janes Studios, hasjust been placed in the west transept in the Colle-giate Church, on Seventy-seventh Street and West EndAvenue, New York. Thiswindow is the gift of Mr. andMrs. Charles Thorley, inmemory of their flowing upward move-ment of the slender forms isbrought out by means of care-ful drawing and by free useof drapery. The wings in thehigher portion of the window-are narrowed for upwardflight, while a sense of sta-bility and form is preservedby the three kneeling trump-eters at the base. Decorativeeffect is obtained by the sure-ness and the restraint of themodeling and the brilliancyof the color. ^Irs. Whitesmodeling suggests only suffi-cient depth to give the neces-sary movement.
