The large stone house on theroad near the Big Spring was erected by the Emigrators son Peter,the date of which is indicated by an inscription on the north gable,1791. This property was purchased by the late Martin R. Dennisof Newark, N. J., who named the place Bonnie Brook. It wasnear this point that the elder Windemuth built, in about the year1770, what is supposed to be the first fulling mill in Sussex Peter Windemuths House, erected 1791,noiv Bonnie Brook. These views and this course of the oldgentleman induced all his children to leave the Germanand unite with the English Presbyterian church, thoughhe himself, I believe, continued in connection with theGerman church to the close of his life. The descendants of the old gentleman have almost allcontinued in connection with the Presbyterian church tothe present day.
