It is the centre of well-ordered homes andhigh-minded public-spirited citizens, living with keen regard fortheir own healthfulness and a conscientious care for their neighborscomfort and well-being. It has at the same time been tributary to some grave health perilsall of which, it is most comforting to report, are in the process of efface-ment or control. The Brooklyn Ash Removal Company have now been working eightyears on filling in the Corona and Flushing meadows, and four-fifths ofthe work can now be properly said to have been performed.
