Solar-panelled housing block. Solar panels (containing photovoltaic cells) on the side of a high-rise housing block. Solar panels generate electricity by harnessing the energy in sunlight. This is a renewable and clean source of energy. This housing block is part of Edward Woods estate, Shepherd's Bush, West London, UK. The solar panels were installed in 2012 as part of a programme in the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham to renovate the 1960s-built estate to improve living conditions for residents and reduce energy consumption and carbon dioxide emissions.
