That type of education and attitudewhich tends to create unrest and dissatisfaction with the local con-ditions of the students home life is positively harmful. It shall bethe aim of this school to educate the student in and for that liferather than away from it, to show how that life may be made mostattractive, to beautify and enrich it, and to develop its latent forcesinto dynamic power for OLD PLANK ROAD Fredericksburg, Virginia 21 LOCATION The school property consists of more than sixty acres situated onthe ridge known as Maryes Heights. The elevation of this tractis such as to give a commanding view of the city of Fredericksburgand the beautiful Eappahannock Valley for several miles in eitherdirection. Six acres of this tract consist of a beautiful grove con-taining many varieties of our most attractive native trees. Thisoffers a delightful park for the students. The air is pure and wholesome and the grounds are sufficientlyrolling to provide an ample natural system of drainage. The openterritory is sufficient for out-of-door games and exercises and fordemonstration use in connection with the rural arts distance from the grounds to Washington Avenue, one of theprincipal residential streets of the city, is just one-half mile, thusmaking it altogether convenient for students in th
