And tono other profession has the call to service sounded more imperiously, or has beenresponded to more splendidly than to the medical profession. Our ranks have beendecimated in supplying the needs of the army, and perhaps none of the other pro-fessional schools have suffered such losses from among their faculties and studentbodies as have the medical
