Red clay terrain, a rare geological phenomenon, as seen near Preveza city, in Epirus region, Greece, Europe.

One of the most unexpected landscapes I 've seen in Greece, is this place, called "Κοκκινόπηλος" (="Kokkinopilos", means "Red Clay"), on the northeast edge of Preveza Prefecture, close to Aghios Georgios village, very close to the "borders" with the Prefectures of Ioannina and Arta. Although it's very close to the National Road between Arta and Ioannina, it's very well "hidden". While driving from Ioannina to Arta, and after you pass a parking place close to the the dam of Louros river, you have to be very careful to notice a red colored path, climbing up a slope, making sort of a "zig-zag". Once you spot the path, this spectacular place is about a 5 minute walk (or climb) this place with the incredible red-orange colour and the spectacular shapes caused by the erosion, the signs of human presence date back to the Prehistory, years ago! Close to this area, very close to the village of Aghios Georgios, you can also visit an imposing aqueduct of the Roman Era.
