The Flying Squadron, Spanish-American War, 1898. The Flying Squadron was a US Navy force that operated in the Atlantic, the Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean in the first part of the war. Featuring many of the navy's most modern warships, the squadron enforced the blockade of Santiago de Cuba.
