'Taymouth Castle, near the village of Kenmore, Perthshire, and at the head of Loch Tay, was built in 1580 by Sir Colin Campbell, sixth knight of Loch Awe, on the eastern limit of the Taymouth property, acquired in the fifteenth century by his ancestor Sir Colin Campbell, knight of Rhodes' (1894).
