Ginkakuji Temple (Jishoji Temple) is siturated in the north eastern part of Kyoto city. This temple is known asthe "Silver Pavilion" in English. Ginkakuji Temple belongs to the Shokokuji branch of the Rinzai sect of Zen Buddhism. In 1994 it was was designated as a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site.
