Snood 1780–95 British A rare example of headwear from the 18th century, the large size of this snood reflects the sizable, sometimes extremely large, hairstyles worn during the period. The spectacular size also references the modes of the Incroyables and Merveilleuses, men and women who donned exaggerated styles during the years after the French Revolution. Although this snood is English, it demonstrates how closely English fashion followed French Snood 157001
