The troops were thensent to New Orleans and after four days there were sent to Mobile Bay and to DolphinsIsland between Fort Gaines and Fort Morgan. Later they started on the move and capturedwhat was known as Spanish Fort. From that point they jjroceeded to ilontgomery, wherethey found their cavalry had arrived. They made the march of one hundred and seventeenmiles in live days. Word was there received that Lee had surrendered and a cheer went up
