Sequence of 28 photos showing a grey seal giving birth to a pup at Horsey Beach, Norfolk: photo 10 of 28

This sequence of 28 photos shows a female grey seal giving birth to a seal pup. This large colony of grey seals can be seen at Horsey every winter. They start pupping from early November. I took this sequence of photos on 7th November so this was one of the first pups born in this season. The females move up the beach away from the water and sometimes even into the sand dunes to give birth. Local volunteer wardens rope off the dunes and patrol the area to make sure that tourist visitors do not disturb the seals. I took this sequence of photos from the top of the dunes, behind the ropes and while standing alongside two wardens and two tourists.
