This furnishes amore rigid support than when lugs areplaced on separate halves of the this arrangement the gear caseis not affected by loose bolts on otherparts of the motor, and excessivevibration of gear covers in service islargely prevented, so that the liabilityof breakage is reduced. This featurehas been used on the General Electricbox motors, and the peculiar designof this new split motor makes
