The illfated Maine, Ipst in Havana harbor February, 1898, was a heavily-armored cruiser, and, while intended for seagoing, was really a battle-ship. The Raleigh and Cincinnati are protected cruisers of 3,183 tons dis-placement, and 10,000 horse power; while the Olympia, of similar construction,has 5,500 tons displacement and 13,500 horse power.
