Gastrostomy tube in a 14 month old baby's stomach. This child has eosinophilic enterocolitis, an inflammatory gastrointestinal disease. The gastrostomy tube is used to deliver nutrients straight to the intestines, bypassing the stomach. Eosinophilic enterocolitis causes severe abdominal pain, weight loss, nausea and diarrhoea. Treatment is with corticosteroid drugs.
