Stroke due to blood clot. 3D cutaway computed tomography (CT) scan of an axial view of a human brain at the base of the skull following a stroke or cerebrovascular accident (CVA). The scan shows an abrupt occlusion of the M2 segment of the right middle cerebral artery (at left) due to an abnormal blood clot (thrombosis). A stroke is where the brain is damaged due to hypoxia (lack of oxygen). This is usually due to an interruption or other damage to the blood supply, in this case a clot blocking the blood flow to the brain.
