The coast road at Southport running between the town and beach on a sunny spring day in the northwest of England.

A lovely spring day sees traffic traveling along the coastal road at Southport. The image was made from the seaside pier which spans the main A565 coastal road. Cars travel this road to avoid the town centre and to get to the beach. Alongside the road is a sea defence wall and all is watched over by some interesting shaped street lights or lamp posts. Southport is a coastal seaside town in the northwest of England. The coastal road runs along the sea front, and forms part of the coastal defence. This view is from the pier looking back over the road and the beach. The pier extends out from the promenade over the marine lake and then out over the beach which is sometimes covered by the sea. This pier is the second longest in England after the one at Southend. The pier was extensively rebuilt in the 1990’s with restoration completed by 2002.
