The glittering lights of Fortuneswell on the Isle of Portland. In the distance stretches Chesil Beach and the Fleet. Dorset, England, United Kingdom.

Fortuneswell is the largest of the eight villages on the Isle of Portland in Dorset. The Isle of Portland is a giant lump of limestone about 4 miles long (6 kilometres) and miles wide ( kilometres) lying just off the south coast of England. It is an example of a tied island (also called a land-tied island), and was once completely surrounded by water, but now it is linked to the mainland by a narrow isthmus of shingle, which forms the eastern end of Chesil Beach. Portland Harbour and Weymouth Bay were the venues for the sailing events of the 2012 London Olympic Games.
