Berlin Rüdesheimer Platz .Moselle the Wine queen - detail of the Siegfried Fountain and grand historic houses The Rüdesheimer Platz was planned in theearly 20th century by Georg Haberland who wished to apply a uniform but individual character to the surrounding buildings. He achieved this by commissioning one architect, Paul Jatzow to design the building residential buildings of the square were built around 1910 in English country house style with gabled facades and front gardens The central green square has old trees, flower-beds and a grand fountain. The Siegfried fountain was designed in 1911 by Emil Cauer d. J., The central figure, Siegfried the Rosslenker, is flanked by two sculptures, the Wine Queen on the right and on the left a male sculpture described as Father Rhine. The square also houses a children’s playground and the entire square is a designated protected building & garden area In summer the wine fountain springs up on the square and wine makers from the Rheingau region serve wines in a small wooden hut.
