Groningen. The emblem is derived from Groningen's provincial weapon. The quarters I and IV contain the coat of arms of the city of Groningen, the quarters II and III that of the Groningen Ommelanden. This last blazon is the oldest and dates from the old Frisian weapon with the plump blades (Pompeblaans). Logo lined by: Groningen (1956-1981), Groningen (2013-).
