The actual operation ofthese ten cars marks a new era in street cartraction, as they solve the problem of storage bat-tery traction, and it is certainly to be hoped that ata not very great distant period, this means oflocomotion will be very thoroughly adopted inthe streets of New York and elsewhere. Itsadvantages are too well known to dilate upon;it is simply a question of proving their practi-cability and economy. Their ireliability is I.
