Wheat. The markets have been uneventful since May camein, but plenty of occurrences in the political -worldhave claimed farmers attention. The very gravequestion of the proper relationship between wagesand prices lies not admitted of indefinite postpone-ment, but wheat-growers are exceedingly dis-couraged by the outlook, and the area under cul-tivation is going back. The promise of the actuallyigrowing wheat is below the mean, and a crop of30 rather than 32 bushels appears to be what is atpresent indicated as probable. Now that workingJiours are shortened, protracted harvestings seeminevitable, and the quantity of wheat fit only fortailings will in all but the finest Augusts be verygreatly increased. The immense yield in America?will relieve all 1919 fears of scarcity, but Britishindebtedness to America financially is already soenormous that the
