ARABIAN GULF (Oct. 10, 2015) Marines Cpl. Jeremiah Patterson, bottom, and Lance Cpl. Antonio Renteria grapple during a deck shoot aboard the amphibious assault ship USS Essex (LHD 2). These Marines are riflemen with Lima Company, Battalion Landing Team 3rd Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment, 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit. The Marines ran and grappled between their shooting to raise their heart rate and practice shooting while their bodies were fatigued. The 15th MEU, embarked aboard the ships of the Essex ARG, is deployed to maintain regional security in the 5th Fleet area of operations
