Ground spider

A genus of ground spiders (Drassodes) consisting of over a 160 species and is a member of the Gnaphosidae family. A fierce nocturnal hunter usually found under stones and leaf litter spending the day in its silken retreat. This genus is found throughout the Palearctic ecozone. Photographed in Somerset, UK, in May.
