(2) There isnot sufficient evidence to enable us to make any definite conclusions as tothe proportion of epilepsy in a feeble-minded family or the amount of fee-ble-mindedness arising from an epileptic fraternity. (3) But, there is suf-ficient evidence of the fact that were we able to segregate and prevent theprocreation of the feeble-minded, this would be the means of eliminatinga large proportion of epilepsy, and exterminate as well much other defec-tive germ plasm which is likewise destined to produce more defective germplasm, and consequently more paupers, criminals, prostitutes, and otherdegenerates who would burden the taxpayer of future generations. 36 State Board Charities and Corrections. nd Chapter VI. This paper reveals the following facts: That the people of Virginia spend, at least two and one-half million dol-lars a year in attempting to aid the destitute. That much of this money is being used to perpetuate poverty. That our almshouses ire virtually lying-in hospitals for feeble-mindedloomen. That certain feeble-minded families have lived and propagated their kindin almshouses for six and seven generations. That many of our almshouses are populated by broken down criminals*and worn out prostitutes, who come to these institutions to recuperate thatthey may be able to further indul
