The roadfrom this point winds roundthe hill-side and reaches Ava-lon via the farm buildings and7th Street, but a shorter descentmay be made from the Parkby a path near the sea, or bythe Incline Railway. It is a very pleasant spot to visit in theday-time, but the visit should be repeated atnight when the lights of Avalon are gleamingin the distance, and the music of the band,which can be heard beautifully, adds to theenchantment. One advantage of hearing theband from this delightful spot is that conversa-tion is not prohibited during the performance,nor is the sound of the music sufficiently loudto interfere with conversation. Excellentlight refreshments are served at a restaurantin the park. Several interesting short expeditions maybe made up the .^valon Canyon by exploringthe various canyons that branch off on eitherside. Water may generally be found in these canyons, and excellent places for picnics maybe easily discovered. .\ specially beautifulcanyon will be found by descending the hillbeyond the fourth hole on the Golf Link
