Picture dated February 22nd 2021 shows the ruins of St James' Church, Bawsey,Norfolk, which was once the equivalent of St MichaelÕs mount 1000 years ago. A ruined church next to the QueenÕs Sandringham estate would have been NorfolkÕs equivalent of St MichaelÕs mount 1000 years ago. In the Domesday Book of 1086, the settlement on the hill known as Boweseia C and now called Bawsey - would have been accessed via a causeway and surrounded by water. As the waters retreated, the village fell into decline and by the 16th century the ruined church of St James was all that remained of the village.

The church, which is now designated as a scheduled ancient monument, is a Grade I listed English Heritage building. Today it stands isolated in a grassy field, metres away from the QueenÕs private country estate.
