Photograph of three San Francisco Mint employees at the annealing furnaces in the Coiner's Department.; Scope and content: Strips of gold were enclosed in long copper cannisters, sealed, and then placed in the furnace. A sink for washing the strips is opposite the furnaces. An article that appeared in Overland Monthly (volume XXXVI, #216, December 1900) features this photograph on page 571.
