Master Chief Petty Officer of the Navy (MCPON) Russell Smith "coins" a recruit during a tour of the Uniform Issue building at Recruit Training Command (RTC), while the recruit was trying on his service uniform. Each recruit goes through an initial uniform issue upon arrival to RTC, a 1st Issue for working uniforms, and again for 2nd Issue where they are fitted for their service and dress uniforms. By the end of boot camp recruits will have more than 80 uniform items in their sea bags to take with them to the fleet. More than 40,000 recruits train annually at the Navy's only boot camp.
