Bishop Huntingtons early religious experi-ence was unusual, and that is given in his own considerations beside the inadequacy of theeditor for theological and historical labors weretaken into account in confining the work to a limitedspace. It would not have been consistent with thepersonality portrayed to reproduce, merely for thehonor paid to their subject, the noble and eloquenttributes rendered him in press and pulpit, and onlythose are here preserved which throw a direct lightupon traits of character.
