Grass Snake (Natrix natrix). En situ section of skin peeled off as snake moved and twisted its body between grass stems in order to facilitate process of sloughing. Known as ecdysis. Lack of a longitudinal keeled division on individual scales identifies this species rather than that of the Adder (Vipers berus). Calthorpe Broad, Norfolk.
