Great Sandy Desert satellite image. North is at top. This desert in western Australia is mostly made up of scrub (green) and rock (brown). The only sand is found in large sand dunes seen as lines running from left to right (some seen at centre left). A wildfire (centre, yellow) has burnt the scrub land. Photographed on 22 August 2000 by the Enhanced Thematic Mapper Plus sensor (ETM+) on board NASA's Landsat 7 satellite.
