Teotihuacan was a pre-Columbian Mesoamerican city situated some 50 km northeast of modern-day Mexico City. Today, it is known as the site of many of the most architecturally significant Mesoamerican pyramids built in the pre-Columbian Americas. The city was built between the 1st and 7th centuries , with major monuments continuously under construction until about AD 250. Teotihuacan was the largest city in the pre-Columbian Americas at its zenith with a population of approximately125,000.
