Cyclone Freddy over Madagascar, satellite image

Satellite image of cyclone Freddy making landfall on the east coast of Madagascar on 21st February 2023. Freddy formed near Indonesia on the 6th February and travelled across the Indian Ocean for 15 days to reach Madagascar. After making landfall in Madagascar it move across the island and made landfall twice in Mozambique before moving inland to Malawi and eventually dissipating on the 15th February. This made Freddy the longest-lived tropical cyclone ever recorded. Freddy was classified as a very intense tropical cyclone. It caused flooding and extensive damage as well as over 420 fatalities. Image obtained by the Visible Infrared Imaging Radiometer Suite (VIIRS) on the NOAA-20 satellite.
