Flowers are so plentiful that they are almost a drug in the market. The de- mand is fairly good, though it is not large enough to consume the flood of stock, which includes an abundance of roses, carnations, valley, gladioli, ])eonies, gillyflowers, cornflowers, snap- dragons, marigolds, gypsophila, pansies, irises, baby roses and baby gladioli, an endless variety of sweet peas in ])astel shades and quantities of strawflowers. There are some ranunculi. Gardenias arc fairly plentiful .-ind there are just enough orchids to meet all demands. Various Notes. The national convention of Shriners was the big event of the week of June 11. The number of Shriners was va- riously estimated at from l.')0,000 to ;500,000. It is safe, however, to say that there must have been well on to a quar- ter of a million visitors in town, for many Kotarians visited San Francisco on their way from their national con- \cntion in Los Angeles, and a large nunibtr of the Shriners were accom- jtanied by their wives and families. Like all the other business firms, the florists decorated their stores lav- ishly to welcome the Shriners. Either ''California" Plant Tub (REDWOOD).
