Filipino protesters hold placards calling to release Palestinian activist Khalida Jarrar during a protest marking International Human Rights Day in Manila, Philippines. A senior member of the leftist Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) and a well-known political figure and activist, Jarrar was sentenced to 15 months jail on Sunday at the Ofer military court near the city of Ramallah in the occupied West Bank. The protesters called for an end to extra-judicial killings of cause-oriented group leaders, an end to police and military harassment on labor unions, and speedy justice for victims of human rights violations. Human Rights Day is celebrated every December 10 to commemorate the United Nation's adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights on December 10, 1948.
