Tooth brushing technique. Artwork showing a toothbrush being used to clean the outer sides of the canine and incisors in the mouth's upper right quadrant. This is one of five stages needed to achieve thorough cleaning of the teeth. These five stages (see C013/0495 to C013/0499) are then repeated in the other three quadrants of the mouth. Cleaning of the teeth and gums, using toothpaste and a toothbrush, is done to remove food debris and bacterial plaque. If it is not done, or is not done properly, dental caries (tooth decay) can develop.
