1944 English Electric battery locomotive used by the CEGB at Bolton, Manchester Museum of Science & Industry


Built by the English Electric company at their Dick Kerr Preston factory in 1944 as works No. 1378, it entered service with the Great Western Railway company as No. 258 in 1945. Originally fitted with an overhead pantograph to pick up power, that was later removed and the loco reverted to battery only propulsion. See also CPEWF7
