OCEAN (July 9, 2017) USS Makin Island (LHD 8) Commanding Officer Capt. Mark A. Melson signals for an MV-22B Osprey, assigned to the “Red Lions” of Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron (VMM) 363, to adjust its position while landing aboard the flight deck of the amphibious assault ship. Makin Island is conducting operations off the coast of Southern California.
