The villa Ludwigshoehe is at a plateau at the edge to the Rhine Valley surrounded by vine-yards and the palatinate forest.

In 1843 the Bavarian King Ludwig I. wanted to have a summer villa in the sunniest part of his kingdom. It was built by Joseph Hoffmann according to plans from architect Friedrich Wilhelm von Gärtner. After finishing the building Ludwig I. was each year for 2 month living in the villa. He also celebrated his birthday here.
