EASTERN TRAINING AREA, OKINAWA, Japan – Cpl. Jeffrey Stanford leads his fellow Marines as they run four kilometers with M2 .50 caliber machine guns during 3rd Marine Division's annual rifle squad/crew-served weapons competition held from Nov. 28 through Dec. 2, 2016. Squads formed from 3rd Marine Division’s major subordinate commands and from 3rd Battalion, 2nd Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, II MEF, competed to earn the title as a super squad. The squad competition is slowly making a return to the Marine Corps after being put on hold during Operations Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom.
