Inscriptions: City mark on lower guard right of center; weaver mark on lower guard, right Inscriptions: Inscription in upper border cartouche: HISTORIA / PHILIPPI REGIS MACEDONIAE / ET ALEXANDRI / MAGNI In bed-chamber, Artemisia, queen of Caria, holds cup of ashes of her husband Mausolus mixed in liquid (center, foreground); & stands next to urn (L, foreground); maid-servant stands behind her (L, middle ground) (BRD) vases of flowers & garlands of flowers; (L & R BRD) pedestals with double-headed long-necked birds with bow, surmounted by vase of flowers; (UPR BRD) bunches of flowers flank central cartouche with inscription; (LWR BRD) vase & 2 garlands of flowers This panel was possibly cut since the upper left-hand corner of the border appears not to be aligned correctly. Furthermore, the border that probably belonged to a panel in the "Alexander the Great" series was cut & attached to this panel, explaining why the border inscription does not correspond to the subject in the central field.
