Pozol is a popular traditional beverage consumed mostly in the hot and humid region of deep southern Mexico in the southern area of the state of Veracruz, all of Tabasco, and parts of Chiapas. Pozol is made by combining together ground nixtamalized corn and cacao in water. The combination is mixed thoroughly and usually consumed with a sweetened fruit in syrup.
