MAJOR AND BREVET LIEUTENANT-COLONELAARON S. DAGGETT, Major and Brevet Lieutenant-Colonel Aaron (Thirteenth Infantry) was born in Maine June14, 1839. He is the son of Aaron and Dorcas ( Dearborn)Daggett, and married Rose, the daughter of Major-Gen-eral Phillips Bradford, of Yurner, a lineal descendant ofGovernor Williams Bradford, of Plymouth colony. At the breaking out of the War of the Rebellion, MajorDaggett enlisted as a private April 29, 1861, and wascommissioned second lieutenant May 1, l86r. He waspromoted first lieutenant of Company E, Fifth MaineInfantry, May 24, and captain of the company August 4,1861. From the first engagement of the regiment (battleof First Bull Run) to the end of its three years memo-rable service, Captain Daggett did faithful duty, andwas promoted major April 14, 1863, and on JanuaryicS, 1865, was commissioned lieutenant-colonel of theFifth Regiment United States Veteran Volunteers (Han-cocks Corps).
